Dr. Sean Cotter
When chiropractic treatment helped Dr. Sean Cotter recover from multiple athletic related injuries as a competitive teenage athlete, a professional purpose was formed.
After attaining a B.S. in Biology at SUNY@Stony Brook, Dr. Cotter gained extensive scientific experience and a more nuanced understanding of molecular biology and genetics through a half decade’s work in research labs at Columbia Presbyterian and LIJ Medical Center. Dr. Cotter co-authored numerous research papers (articles) in prestigious scientific journals prior to becoming a chiropractor. Despite his accomplishments in the field of research, his deeper personal interest and desire to focus on a holistic, patient based hands-on practice grew. He joined the FDNY with the intention of obtaining his D.C. (Doctor of Chiropractic) degree by attending New York Chiropractic College while simultaneously working as a firefighter, fulfilling the dream he’d carried since childhood.
Now, with over 28 years of experience as a doctor of chiropractic and holistic wellness practitioner, Dr. Cotter has become a cornerstone of the New York downtown wellness community, earning national recognition for his voluntary chiropractic care of recovery and rescue workers following 9/11.
A member of the American Chiropractic Association, a former Membership Chairperson of NYS Chiropractic Association, and a credentialed practitioner in Active Release Technique (ART) and manipulation under anesthesia, Dr. Cotter is passionate about supporting the health and well-being of New York’s downtown FIDI community.
Dr. Cotter enjoys running, playing basketball and golf and spending quality time with his family.
